Ask The Expert
Posted by Ralph Johnson on Mon, Apr 06, 2009 @ 07:09 PM
We are extending our Ask The Expert program through the end of 2009. This FREE
program is available to the public. You do not have to be a Techsys
customer past, present, or future to participate. This is just one of
the ways we at Techsys are giving back to the industry that has been so
good to us for so many years.
Q: What types of questions will you answer?
A: The only thing we ask is that they be mainframe
related in nature. The program is intended for new mainframers, or
those being forced into a new area of the mainframe world, that need to
be pointed in the right direction.
Q: So, I can ask anything mainframe related?
A: Sure. Quick questions such as:
- Where do I find documentation on … ?
- How do I do this on the mainframe?
- What am I doing wrong?
- Do you have an example of …?
Q: Can I ask questions about specific software products running on the mainframe?
A: Yes. The following is a list of the operating
systems, products, and programming languages that we can assist with in
this program:
Operating Systems:
- z/OS, OS/390, MVS
- z/VSE, VSE/ESA, VSE
Products:
- JES2 / JES3
- VTAM
- TCP/IP
- TSO, ISPF, SDSF
- CICS
Programming Languages:
- Assembler, ALC, BAL
- COBOL
- C/C++
- JAVA
- REXX,CLIST
Q: Tell me more! How do I ask my question?
A: You can ask a question using either of the following methods:
- Email us at support @ techsyssoftware.com. Leave the subject line intact!
- You may also post a question as a comment below. Do not include confidential data in the posting!
We will get to your question or issue as quickly as we can.
Q: What happens if the quick question is more than a “quick question”?
A: No worries - we will let you know. Sometimes, we
can assist you if the problem is very short-term in nature and fits
into our scope of services. If not, we can refer you to other firms
that may be better equipped to handle long-term projects.
Q: What do you do with these questions, and their answers?
Can I look at past Q&A to see if you have answered my question
before?
A: Great question! We are working toward having this capability. In the mean time, send in those questions.
